My writing center training and consulting experience have strengthened my commitment to student-centered pedagogy and to students as researchers. As a consultant, I learned how to give meaningful feedback focused on global concerns that students can reuse to assess their own writing. Writing center theories and practices inform the way I prepare students for peer review activities and the way I approach individual conferences with students.

At the SJU Conference for College Composition and Communication's award-winning University writing center, I was trained by veteran consultants on how to use WC Online and in three way peer tutoring sessions before consulting with students one-on-one. We reviewed praxis regularly through continuous professional development in the form of readings and discussion among writing center administrators and consultants.
