Curricular Initiatives

My independent course proposal Writing for New Media was approved by the English Department in May 2021, the MEC General Education Committee in Spring 2022, and the MEC Curriculum Committee in Fall 2023. It is currently pending approval from the CUNY University Curriculum Committee.

Professional Writing Committee
, Medgar Evers College. Fall 2018-Present.

In this role, I draw on my experience designing and teaching business and professional writing curricula to help the English Department develop Professional Writing courses.

For example, in Spring 2020, my colleague Professor Donna Hill and I wrote a grant proposal for a Professional and Public Writing Degree at MEC.

I also work with colleagues to organize events such as our Fall 2019 "Creating a Digital Footprint for the Job Market," which help students prepare for the 21st-century workplace.

Professional Business Writing Course Pilot, Hofstra University. Spring 2017.

I worked with two colleagues in the Writing Studies and Composition Department to design and implement a Zarb School of Business writing-intensive degree requirement, Professional Business Writing. Hofstra offers a Professional Writing Studies Minor, and this course can also be taken as an elective toward that end.

In this role, my colleagues and I determined texts for the course and designed common assignments ranging from business proposals, formal reports, visual presentations, internal and web articles, press releases, and more.

I shaped the curriculum of WSC 130 into an internal service-learning course through three sections I taught in Spring of 2018.
